I want to not have my PE puppet master server apply my (often broken) modules to itself, so I tried taking the server out of it's own default node group but that failed so I had to disable puppet agent on my server.

I want PE master bob to be PE master joe's puppet master. I can't find any docs on how to do this. I can't nuke /etc/puppetlabs/puppet/ssl as I would when switching a client node to a different PE master.

2 ways:

1) In your puppet.conf on "joe", specify the master as your "bob" by adding something like:

[agent]
...
server = "bob"
...

2) I always made my "default" group do nothing from there, it shouldn't be that hard to us something off the forge (like this module) that you can use to manage your current master and point it at the other master using the console. From there it should report to your second/"bob" master and you can delete the class/group.
