Where does fqdn come from?

I see a lot of docs & modules referencing fqdn but when I tried a module that references it, it broke on my system, and I discovered it is absent from my nodes, master and facter facts. Where is that supposed to come from?

You can always look at the code to see how it's generated on your system. Make sure the versions match between Github tag and your local install, but I don't think fqdn.rb has changed much.

Ah, so my facter code is out of date then? Thanks! How do I update facter? I am running PE 3.3 and facter --version says 1.7.5

You shouldn't need to up date anything. If you look at the code, fqdn is a combination of two other facts, host and domain. You should look to see if those facts are correct, they probably aren't and then look to see how Puppet figures those out.
