Hi, I am using puppet learning VM. I have installed puppent agent on my debian 7-amd64 system by following the instructions given in this link.

When i am trying to run puppet agent --test on my puppet agent i am getting the following error

******err: Could not request certificate: getaddrinfo: Name or service not known
Exiting; failed to retrieve certificate and waitforcert is disabled******

Please help me in solving this problem

This seems like a hostname resolution problem. Do you have a server setting in the /etc/puppetlabs/puppet/puppet.conf file on the agent machine? This setting provides the hostname that the agent will use to contact the puppet master.

Try logging on to the agent machine, and then ping the hostname that server points to. If this doesn't work, then you'll need to get that fixed first of all. Once the puppet agent is able to resolve the name to the correct IP address for the puppet master server, it will then create a certificate request which can be signed on the master, and you should be in business.
