Internal Server Error when Accepting Node Request

asked 2014-10-22 12:33:04 -0600

I continually receive an Internal Server Error message in the Puppet Enterprise Console node request screen when I accept a new node request. However, despite this error the new node is successfully added and the certificate accepted.

My steps to reproduce are:

  1. Install the pe-agent on the new node
  2. Log-in to the enterprise console and I see the new node request
  3. Click on the blue Accept button to approve the new node's certificate
  4. I see the following error appear:

image description

In the /etc/puppetlabs/httpd/logs/error.log I see this message:

App 5759 stderr: OpenSSL::SSL::SSLError - SSL_connect returned=1 errno=0 state=SSLv3 read server certificate B: certificate verify failed:

This is followed by a sizable stack trace.

Then when I leave the node request screen and go to the Nodes dashboard, I see my new node that I just accepted. I am able to perform agent runs successfully at this point.

Are there any additional log files I can reference to determine what might be causing this? While the end result is what I expect, I imagine I shouldn't be seeing this error message. Also it'd be good to understand if this is a symptom of a larger problem.

Thank you for your help.
