Hi everyone, I've been looking for a feed that deals with software updates only as I'm trying to create an aggregator so we can see what software needs updating at a flash. I've been looking for an RSS feed but can't find one. i can see a google groups but that doesn't seem to help me as it requires logins and has a sha-bang in the url so my web scraper freaks out.

What do other people use for this?

For Linux environments (rhel based) I would look into Katello to subscribe to repos and help you manage the workflow for packages.

http://www.katello.org

For windows environments, i would check out chocolatey.

http://chocolatey.org/ (Aka OneGet / NuGet)

I may attempt trying to bring one get into katello eventually, but that's a long term effort.
