Error: Could not run: Could not create PID file

When I run the post installation command to start the puppet master, I get the error:

ubuntu:/$ sudo puppet master --verbose --no-daemonize Notice: Starting Puppet master version 3.7.3 Error: Could not run: Could not create PID file: /var/lib/puppet/run/master.pid

Please help

Hi Guys, I am unable to open port 8140 in puppet agent. Could you please help me.

[root@server1 ~]# lsof -i :8140 [root@server1 ~]#

I was having the same problem and tried running 'killall puppet' and re-ran 'puppet master --verbose --no-daemonize'. I no longer get the same error about the PID file.

I think I was accidentally trying to run multiple puppet services somehow and this cleaned things up.
