Today I decided to try jumping in, and installing the master on Mac, 10.8.3, 16GB Ram, 3.1Ghz Intel i3.

The first time I downloaded the dmg files from puppetlabs: puppet, facter, and hiera. I went ahead and installed all 3 dmg files. Everything looked good, went into the post-configuration section, where it talks about looking at puppet.conf ... (more)

I suggest following these steps to get Puppet agent running on your Mac:

  • Uninstall your current gem-based installation
  • Reinstall Puppet following the Mac OS X installation instructions
  • Confirm that the /etc/puppet directory exists
  • Generate a default puppet.conf file with the commands:
sudo puppet agent --genconfig > /etc/puppet/puppet.conf
sudo chown puppet:puppet /etc/puppet/puppet.conf

Hope that helps!
