Low bandwidth and network outage behaviour

Hi, couls someone tell me how puppet reacts on low bandwidth as well as network outages? Does puppet resume broken file transfers or must the file be trasferred with a stable network connection? I want to use puppet in a WAN environment where I sometimes only have GSM (128 KBit) connections that quite often also fail and when I have to deploy 20 MB files it could happen that one file trasfer is interrupted several times.

Hi there is no way in improving the network performance... We are happy with the 128 KBit connection ... One year before we only had 64 KBit. So there is no way in slicing or partly transfer...

Is it an option to use rsync as transfer protokol for this?

I've seen puppet hang and become unresponsive - also potential issues with yum.. maybe worth rsync repos / files local to the clients and have them point to a server on the local/nearby subnet? also - silly point - improve network connection in anyway - issues with 20Mb files and network must be pretty bad?

I will give rsync a try and I will test it with a nework simulator... The biggest issue are the network outages
