I have a Windows server Im trying to manage with Puppet but it wont connect to my master. The master is running 3.7.1 on RHEL 6, agent version is the same. Ive tried reinstalling the agent using both the FQDN of the hostname as well as the CNAME value of puppet.domain.com with no luck. The agent and master nodes are in different domains, but they can ping each other by hostname with no issue. There are no entries in the Application Log other than to show the agent restarting, no logs have been written to C:\ProgramData\PuppetLabs\puppet\var\log

Did a packet capture and tried to telnet to port 8140 from the Windows box and I see the connection. Running puppet agent -t shows up in a packet capture, so there is communication on the network level. But I cant find anything being logged either on the server or the client.

Well, after the fourth time reinstalling the thing started working. Next Windows boxed worked the first time through exactly as it should. It will remain a mystery for the rest of its days.

Did you sign the client presented cert on the master?
