The node excution ordering

we have related applications in different servers. how to make the start and stop process in particular order with puppet, like start application in node1 ,then start application in node2?

If you have an application with an external dependency, perhaps you can test if the dependent service is available before starting or entering a wait loop and then finally erroring and exiting.

You need an orchestration tool. MCollective is one such. With MCollective (the mco command) you can trigger actions, including puppet runs on specific nodes, in a suitable order. mco can use filters (based on classes applied to the node, and facts, for example) to initiate actions on nodes, from a central machine.

Some specialist might have a more advanced answer, but puppet describe the state of the machine, not the order of the action to reach it. You might look at the wrong tool when you want some specific sequence between nodes.
