I'm creating a module that creates a who bunch of IIS virtual directories. The code is essentially the same for the entire module, only the name, path and directory variables are different. WHen I put more than 200 lines in the init.pp, I get an error back from puppet. Here's a snippit of what I'm doing...

iis::manage_virtual_directory {'/mysite/Radio/Client':

    site_name       =>  'mysite',
    directory       =>  '/my/Radio/Client',
    path            =>  'F:\FW\Client',

iis::manage_virtual_directory {'/UserControls':

    site_name       =>  'mysite',
    directory       =>  '/UserControls',
    path            =>  'F:\FW\UserControls',

}

The error I get is: 400 on Server. Syntax error at ': site_name =>; expected }

I'm not aware of any practical limit on the size of a puppet manifest, especially not anything in the neighborhood of 200 lines. The message suggests a syntax error and the example is missing a closing } for the iis::manage_virtual_directory resource. Could this be it?

path => 'F:\FW\Client', above line should have a closing brace:- }

I dont believe theres a limit on size of init.pp other than that imposed by os/architecture of your system - there will be practical limitations however based on complexity/performance Cheers Stuart
