Find all machines that connect to puppet master?

Is there a way to find all machine that connects (or previously connects) to puppet master including data like operating system?

In general, this functionality is provided by PuppetDB which stores information including facts and last check in time for agents. PuppetDB also provides sophisticated methods for querying and retrieving this data.

Additionally, most masters are configured to cache fact data as YAML in the vardir:

ls $(puppet config print --section master vardir)/yaml/facts

This cache may provide a simple way to get the data you are looking for.

You could also use mco commands if you have that configured/available.

mco ping - find all instances attached mco find - find all instances - can provide additional criteria to find specify instances using facts or what have you.
