Does Open Source Puppet 4.0 provide support for Solaris 10 and 11?

We are building our Puppet environment from scratch and decided on Open Source Puppet 4.0. We are having trouble finding the agent for Solaris. We had done a POC on an earlier version and had Solaris support so assumed it would be there in 4.0 as well. If 4.0 currently does not support Solaris is there a plan to do so?

What about Puppet Enterprise 4.0 does that support Solaris agents?

The Solaris support is, of course, still there, as can be seen from the source code, e.g. the built-in providers.

When I did Puppet on Solaris 10, I just used Rubygems and installed puppet as a gem. This should work on any version of Unix and for any version of Puppet. Otherwise you may need to package it all up yourself, and that may end up being more trouble than it's worth (it was for me).

Thanks, I was able to get Puppet 4.1 installed using rubygems on both Solaris 10 & 11 (11.1 & 11.2)

Puppet Labs doesn't supply pre-built packages for Solaris for version 4.0, but perhaps some other entity does. If not, you should be able to download it from and build it yourself.

Since PE 4.0 has not been released yet, there is no information about what agent OSes are supported or not, AFAIK.
