Client (Windows) cannot register with (CentOS) Puppet Master. Puppet Master/Server - CentOS 6.6 Linux Server in a VMware Virtual Machine running Puppet Enterprise 2.8. Client - Windows 7 Enterprise running Puppet Agent Client.

Error: Could not request certificate: Find /puppet-ca/v1/certificate/ca?environm ent=production&failon404=true resulted in 404 with the message: <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;charset=ISO-8859-1"/> <title>Error 404 </title> </head> <body>

HTTP ERROR: 404

Problem accessing /puppet-ca/v1/certificate/ca. Reason:

    Not Found

</body> </html>

Initially, client was unable to reach the server (CentOS firewall issue - shut that down, which enabled access; this is a test host so no concerns there), but once that was resolved, got this new error. I suspect that the client being a Windows host is an issue and either the agent or the Puppet Master is expecting a cert file to be in a location that does not exist on this client (or on the server?).

Any ideas on what I can do to get this Windows client to register with the CentOS Puppet Master? Where to look for clues?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Had a working session with Disan and Kai Pak from Puppet Software.

Kai - support engineer - determined that communication is failing due to hardware limitations. Puppet Server is a fairly resource intensive application - recommended to have 6 GB RAM and a quad core CPU. Given the hardware characteristcs of my laptop/VM combination, Puppet does not expect it to work.
