the first puppet agent runs abnormal delay

asked 2015-08-26 09:49:16 -0500

Hello

after creating a new node, the first execution runs after several hours. In general, we must wait the next day to see the configuration applied on the client. after this time , all the runs work well.

Does someone know why we have this problem and is there a parameter to set to change this delay ?

Thank you for your help .

Hi Francois,

You should configure loglevel at debug and give us more detail (https://docs.puppetlabs.com/references/latest/configuration.html#loglevel)

can you be more precise concerning your issue:

  • does the catalogue compilation on the master take hours?
  • does the run on the agent take hours?

cheers,

Bonjour,

In english: On the server, I create a new .pp file for a new node in /etc/puppet/manifest/nodes.

On the client i run the command : puppet agent -td

The server answers in a short time but the configurations are not applied. I have to wait a very long time ( the next day) for the command to succeed.

The problem occurs only at the creation of a new node. Once the first configuration applied on the node, the following modification in the pp file are immediately applied.
