How to handle multiple modules requiring the same packages

what is the "best practice" for this problem.

  1. Each package in it's own class and include the class

  2. virtual resource for each package and realize

  3. wrapper module:

They are all appropriate, and it depends on your usage for what's 'best practice'.

Besides the one you listed, another solution is stdlib function: ensure_packages or ensure_resource.

  1. packages wrapped in class with include class is what github boxen project adapted. You end up with lots of modules, but the assumption that in the future there might be additional things to manage for the application besides the package. Let's say I want to install git, but later adds a deployment key in that module. You can see this thread for more info, especially wfarr and glarizza's comments.
