Hello I am using puppet version 3.7.4. And since some modifications where done on the puppetmaster i started to receive errors on some clients

Error: Could not retrieve catalog from remote server: Error 400 on SERVER: Could not find data item nfsexports in any Hiera data file and no default supplied at /etc/puppet/environments/production/oca_mods/profile/manifests/gfs_client.pp:21 on node (host deleted)
Warning: Not using cache on failed catalog
Error: Could not retrieve catalog; skipping run

I am using roles to divide the servers and on the servers that i use an role wich includes gfs_client the client gives no errors and on the servers that have different roles receive the specified error. Can someone tell me what i'm doing wrong here

Thank you

Did you change something to do with Hiera on the Puppet Master? Looks to me like it's not finding your Hiera config any more.

You could try this on the master:

puppet master --compile <your host FQDN> --environment=<your host environment> --debug |grep hiera

UPDATE

The output shows that a catalog was successfully compiled and there is no reference to the missing data item "nfsexports".

Could you try something different. Stop the puppet master (service httpd stop) and then:

puppet master --no-daemonize --debug

Then run puppet agent -t from the client so that a catalog is compiled. Thanks.

Here is the output on 2 hosts, one that has error on puppet client and doesn't work (http://pastebin.com/krjjG3GF) and another on a host that works without issues and uses an profile with gfs_client (http://pastebin.com/ZU66mQaC).

Can you supply the full output, prior to the grep? Thanks.

Hello here is the full log from the same host with issues: https://www.dropbox.com/s/aheyc95n6x0r9uu/puppet%20with%20problem%20host.txt?dl=0 Do you need from the host that doesn't have issues?

Well, after the changes were made, did you restart the puppet services to reflect it?

The changes where made a while ago and where made by another person so no idea what was changed, before that it was working without issues on all servers , and yes puppetmaster was restarted a couple of times since i saw the error
