why is r10k process trying to connect to github.com?

I am trying to get code manager configured and so far r10k portion of the Code Manager has been working almost all functional - except when I try to deploy it always hangs that I have to interrupt.

It turns out when it is hanging it is trying to access github.com tcp SYN-SENT 0 1 10.0.0.1:44486 192.30.252.130:https users:(("r10k",pid=15921,fd=7)) (192.30.252.130 resolves to github.com)

I always have my httpproxy and httpsproxy variables set AND I've also tried to set proxy in /etc/puppetlabs/r10k/r10k.yaml config file

forge: proxy: 'http://my.proxy:8000'

but none of these will help. The only thing that helps is if I comment out pretty much everything from Puppetfile but I don't want to do this since I may want r10k to update puppet modules upon deploy.

Has anyone seen something like this?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Please post a link to a pastebin of your Puppetfile. Sounds like there's something in it causing the problem, perhaps?

I have a similar issue where we are behind a corporate proxy and the r10k_proxy setting only appears to be used when the puppetfile modules are being pulled down and not the control repo itself. As our control repo is in Bitbucket this is an issue for us.
