Hi, I am new to puppet.

I am trying to understand, one of the puppet-agent server is down. How master will come to know and whether master will try to restart the server or not.

If server is down what all the actions master will do.

Thanks, Chaitanya

If the Puppet agent process exits on a managed node, the Puppet master will not try to restart it. It will notice that the node has not checked in after a while, though, and it will report that in the console status. I forget what the exact term is - "unreported", "unresponsive" or something like that.

You would then have to restart the Puppet agent manually or perhaps with the mcollective tool so it starts connecting to the Puppet master again.
