Hi guys, I have just restarted my puppet master and it will no longer do the puppet agent -t on the master and have ran out of ideas on what this could be. I am getting the following error:

Warning: Unable to fetch my node definition, but the agent run will continue: Warning: getaddrinfo: Name or service not known Info: Retrieving pluginfacts Error: /File[/opt/puppetlabs/puppet/cache/facts.d]: Failed to generate additional resources using 'evalgenerate': getaddrinfo: Name or service not known Error: /File[/opt/puppetlabs/puppet/cache/facts.d]: Could not evaluate: Could not retrieve file metadata for puppet:///pluginfacts: getaddrinfo: Name or service not known Info: Retrieving plugin Error: /File[/opt/puppetlabs/puppet/cache/lib]: Failed to generate additional resources using 'evalgenerate': getaddrinfo: Name or service not known Error: /File[/opt/puppetlabs/puppet/cache/lib]: Could not evaluate: Could not retrieve file metadata for puppet:///plugins: getaddrinfo: Name or service not known Info: Loading facts Error: Could not retrieve catalog from remote server: getaddrinfo: Name or service not known Warning: Not using cache on failed catalog Error: Could not retrieve catalog; skipping run Error: Could not send report: getaddrinfo: Name or service not known

I checked that the DNS is working by pinging the host name from one of the agents and everything is fine.

Here is a list of the running services not sure if I have missed something basic that needs to be running. [ + ] acpid [ + ] apparmor [ ? ] apport [ + ] atd [ + ] atop [ ? ] console-setup [ + ] cron [ - ] dbus [ ? ] dns-clean [ + ] friendly-recovery [ - ] grub-common [ ? ] irqbalance [ ? ] killprocs [ ? ] kmod [ + ] mcollective [ ? ] networking [ ? ] ondemand [ + ] pe-activemq [ - ] pe-console-services [ + ] pe-nginx [ + ] pe-orchestration-services [ + ] pe-postgresql [ + ] pe-puppetdb [ + ] pe-puppetserver [ ? ] pppd-dns [ - ] procps [ + ] puppet [ + ] pxp-agent [ ? ] rc.local [ + ] resolvconf [ - ] rsync [ + ] rsyslog [ ? ] screen-cleanup [ ? ] sendsigs [ + ] snmpd [ - ] ssh [ - ] sudo [ - ] sysstat [ + ] udev [ ? ] umountfs [ ? ] umountnfs.sh [ ? ] umountroot [ - ] unattended-upgrades [ - ] urandom

Sorry for the information first time posting to a tech forum, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Liam

Can you resolve the master hostname on the master itself? Does Puppet still run OK on the other agent nodes (the ones you can successfully ping the master from)?

No I cannot resolve the masters hostname from itself but I can from the puppet agents.
