Ubuntu 12.0.4 LTS w/ puppet master/agent 2.7.22

Using puppetlabs-f5 module , I can successfully connect to f5 BIG-IP 10.2.4

However , on attempt to connect to f5 BIP-IP 11.4.0 receive error :

err: Can't load f5 for 'f5-test-01.mydomain.com': getaddrinfo: Name or service not known ('https://f5-test-01.mydomain.com:443')

Does puppetlabs-f5 module support connections to f5 11.4.0 ?

NOTE : ping f5-test-01.mydomain.com works fine.

I wouldn't necessarily expect it to based on this blurb in the README file:

The F5 module was written against F5 VE version 10.1.0.3341. F5 have released version 11 with several API changes but currently they have not released any hardware or software running version 11. This provider uses several version 10.1 API, so it is not expected to work with older F5 devices.

That being said, do you get any other useful information if you run puppet with the --debug --trace --verbose options?

What output do you get when you type "ping f5-test-01.mydomain.com" at the command line?

Yeah that was one of the first things I thought of :) I had our networking guys configure the dns to translate the hostname. Ping hostname works fine.

If you can't get more debug output from the agent run, the next step is to set up TCP connection monitoring (wireshark, tcpdump, etc.) to see exactly what's ...(more)
