Passenger error after restart

I'm testing a new puppet installation. It was working recently but I had to scrub out the various SSL certs and rebuild. Afterwards when I went to restart Apache the passenger installation wouldn't work anymore. These are the sorts of errors I'm seeing:

Some edits to match the evolution of this question.

  • This is a horrible idea.
  • It won't do what you're expecting anyway
  • Most of your distro's default config are working against this
  • Any sysadmin who comes after you will pause to curse your name and then immediately rip it all out.

Apache the daemon generating these logs should log to /var/log/apache2/{access,error}.log or whatever scheme works in your system. The reason is that all the logs Apache writes are interactions with Apache, not the Rack application which is your Puppet master ... (more)

I didn't move the base apache logs. Those entries were strictly for the Passenger VirtualHost.

Logs specified in an Apache vhost are Apache logs regardless of what you call them or where you put them because Apache is the daemon writing them. This would go ...(more)
