What's the easiest way to apply a class to all nodes

I believe it is creating a all nodes nodegroup in PE console and then adding the class to it. The second way is through mcollective. The third is hiera.yaml, common

But are there any other methods to accomplish this.

You can use the site.pp and add a default node definition with all class included on it , but that's not really a good practice. Docs here for your reference.

If you are looking to do this permanently, not just in a one-off ad-hoc way, the way that I do it is with the roles and profiles pattern. We have a 'base' profile that is included in all of our roles (our roles all inherit the base role class, which contains any profiles that we wish to put on every node)
