I am running Puppet 2.7 with the Puppet Master running under Apache. The Apache configuration specifies several directives having to do with PKI. Does this mean that the Puppet Master does not use the ssldir directive? If it does use ssldir, in what capacity?

Note that the Puppet CA service and the Puppet Master service run on different servers.

Every Puppet agent and master uses the ssldir, it's the place where they store their own certificates for example.

The apache configuration also references it because Apache itself is probably handling SSL termination for you so the Puppet master 'app' doesn't have to do it. It depends a bit on how you run your Puppet masters.
