Is it possible to reset account without knowing email-id

asked 2016-10-12 01:34:31 -0600

Hey, This may sound stupid, but i have a company-name user account that has not been used since last few yrs, and as such i am not able to gather who created that account or what creds it has. Now i am required to make upgrades to one of the modules and yet i am not able to find how i will be able upgrade the latest module version on puppetlabs, even if i complete the task.

Is it possible to reset account without knowing email-id, Or atleast identify email-id of a particular user profile?

I'm afraid, you can't gain access to the account. I guess you've already tried like all possible e-mail addresses the account possibly could have been created with. So the I-forgot-password-function won't help out.

My advise: Create a new account and document who (e-mail address) with what credentials (password) created it, right away!

I personally refrain from using old modules, which weren't updated, like since more than a year or so. Don't worry there'll remain a module online, which ain't usable today. Maybe a note „this is a furthered developed version of version XYZ“ in readme of the module your about to upload would be nice (w/o telling the story „We at company ACME are so stupid and can't document accounts.“ hehe)

You may be able to contact the puppet team (either open a ticket on their jira board or look for some contact information)

Filling out the form at linked below may get you what you need.
