Hello All,

I have to install the Open source puppet for master agent setup with normal user not root user, below are the source code version that I have to use for this- puppet-3.8.6

I installed the ruby with yaml and tried to install puppet master but getting below error-

ruby install.rb

ftools not found. Using FileUtils instead..

Could not load openssl; cannot install

Openssl version 0.9.8e-fips-rhel5 is already present also I installed higher version of Openssl and added in in path and tried to install puppet master again but getting the same error, could you please help how to install Puppet master in my server where I do not have internet connectivity as well there is no root privileges.

Also if you have any document for installing all of this from source code that will help me a lot.

Hello All,

Finally I resolve this Issue,

I had to choose ruby-1.9.3-p550 as the ruby version 1.9.3-p194 does not allow to add 2 (--with-opt-dir) headers and libraries directories separated by $PATH_SEPARATOR so I gave yaml and openssl in --with-opt-dir options and it got compiled with yaml and openssl. ./configure --prefix=/opt/SP/apps/ruby/ruby-1.9.3-p550 --with-opt-dir=/opt/SP/apps/openssl/openssl-1.0.2g:/opt/SP/apps/yaml/yaml-0.1.4/ make make install

After ruby installation i installed facter, hiera and puppet.

Note:- As i installed with normal user (not with root user) so openssl has to compiled with shared modules, configure command is below:- CFLAGS=-fPIC ./config shared --prefix=/opt/SP/apps/openssl/openssl-1.0.2g make depend make make install
