I've run into the same problem as a previous user.

  • I am trying to install without external internet access. -

I have verified that all the required packages are installed. (http://docs.puppetlabs.com/pe/3.0/installsystemrequirements.html#dependencies-and-os-specific-details)

But I am still getting the following result STEP 3: INSTALL PACKAGES

Installing packages from repositories... Loaded plugins: security

Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: epel. Please verify its path and try again I'm running OEL 6. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

-Kevin

Edit: I reran with the -D option to get more debugging info ... (more)

It seems that the problem was not due to puppet but that yum wouldn't run at all. (even 'yum info kernel' failed)

There were other yum repos that were 'pointing' at external sources (which weren't accessible since I don't have an internet connection).

When I moved those files out of the yum repository directory then yum would launch and then puppet installed. cd /etc/yum.repos.d mkdir bak mv epel.repo ./bak mv public-yum-ol6.repo ./bak
