Hi,

In my PE I have more than 60 nodes that state in Unresponsive. I have login few unresponsive nodes that were Decom, Network error. But I don't have much time to log in more than 60 nodes one by one and finding a solution

Is there any other easy way to achieve this task?

Waiting for the reply

Thanks Asai

Depending on what version of Puppet Enterprise you're running, you could always:

  1. use the built in service task to check the status of the Puppet Agent across the unresponsive nodes. An easy way to do this would be to use PQL to query on anything that hasn't checked in in over 24 hours:

puppet query 'nodes[certname] { report_timestamp <= "2018-07-03 00:00:00" }'

  1. For those where the puppet agent is stopped/disabled, use the task to start/enable it. Login to the systems to see if you can't determine who may have stopped/disabled the puppet agent if so desired.

  2. For those where the puppet agent is started, conduct a puppet run from the console (using noop as your discretion). Start digging in from there. You might have some hung up Puppet runs or a lock file that didn't get removed for one reason or another.

Thanks for this helpful information. Would like to know the reason for unresponsive status where the agent is started. Mostly, I run "puppet agent -t --noop" from node itself which sometimes clears the status, not sure if it is temporary. After clearing some common issues, still nodes unresponsive
