What was the result of following the hint in the log message? Do you have the PostgreSQL package already installed, and if so, does the server start automatically? If that's the case, please run the Puppet uninstaller, shut down any PostgreSQL processes, remove the PostgreSQL packages and reinstall Puppet.

If you run into trouble doing that, please post the output from the installation process and any other relevant information that will help troubleshoot the problem.
