I'm looking for a way to quickly deploy Debian 7 templates via puppet to ESXi 5.0 and XenServer 6.2 which includes:

  1. installation of vmware-tools or xen-tools
  2. auto IP assigning based of input or range

Have anyone done this and can point me to the right direction?

We use XenServer 6.2. If I wanted to create a number of Debian 7 VMs I would use the snapshot/clone process with DHCP on the original. Puppet could be there for more post-setup control but wouldn't really be needed for the imaging.
