Whether to use a separate host for the "console" Role

I'm doing an initial rollout of PE, from open source. We have maybe 50 +/- hosts -- and though we do use VMWare, I am not sure we really need separate hosts for all of the Roles. For example, the "master" will be on real-iron, and the PuppetDB will be (for now) virtual. But another role for Console seems like overkill.

Would someone elaborate on whether this is a serious issue? I don't expect our environment to get substantially large, but it could happen. It seems that once you make a decision on this during the installation, it's going ... (more)

My PE installation had the console on the same server as the master, and PuppetDB on its own host. I never ran into any major issues other than tracking disk space.

About 120 - 200 servers were in use, and we rarely used the console.

The only thought I'd add to the conversation is that with big changes in the pipeline, what does the upgrade path look like for moving from the old, to the new solution? If the new solution requires its own server, then it might be worth separating them now versus later, but I don't have ... (more)
