I have observed like once we are assigning a class to node for deployment, even after the successful deployment on agent machine if I am not unassigning the class, it is again and again overwriting the files what had already deployed. any lock how to make the puppet master not to overwrite the module if it is already there in the agent machine.

Regards, Sachikanta

Can you please provide the actual content of your class and/or your file resource and the puppet agent output (at least with --verbose). Please note that you can edit ...(more)

It not overwrite again and again on your agent machine. It simply check the files are present or not. If file present then catalog do nothing. If not, then it will be deploy on your agent side. So there is no lock system. It only checks the catalog. Thats it.

Your puppet classes describe the state that the node should be in. If a class says file X should have contents FOO, then the agent will check if file X contains exactly FOO, and if not, will over-write it. If you want to change a file that is managed through puppet, you need to modify the class.

And I agree with Stefan - please edit your question to at least include the class definition.
