Hi ,

i am installing puppet 3.2 in which i have pointed to some repo. I am using cobbler to boot a new machine and there preseed i am trying to install puppet agent. there i am getting puppet 2.7 version.

Will puppet 2.7 work for puppet 3.2 master? If works what are the configurations needed to be changed ?

If not please confirm.

In puppet i am using hiera for comfigurations. will this work for this setup ????

Thanks in advance.

Regards, Kampy

The difference between major revisions is, well, major. I wouldn't recommend trying this setup. You're better off removing 2.7 and installing 3.x as a post-provisioning step. If you're curious about the differences, take a look at the 3.0.0 release notes, specifically for things marked 'BREAK':

http://docs.puppetlabs.com/puppet/3/reference/release_notes.html#puppet-300

As for hiera, you're in better shape. Hiera functions are executed on the master, so a version mismatch shouldn't be an issue.
