Hi All,

I am new to puppet.

As my requirement is to do unattended/automated installation of ubuntu. one way is i can clone a vm from template (vmware environment). Is there any other way to create a vm without template i mean using puppet.

Note: vm = virtual machine

Yes. What you are looking for is provisioning. There are several provisioners that integrate with puppet. Here are a few of the most common.

razor
cobbler
the foreman

If you are looking to spin up a test vm (not production) then vagrant is a great option. It also integrates with puppet

Yes, that is exactly what razor is intended to do. Razor was very recently rewritten and is available as a tech preview inside puppet enterprise.
