Empty /etc/puppetlabs/puppet/modules directory in my Learning VM

Extremely new to puppet. I am working through the labs, I see the tree command used in the examples showing a full file structure under /etc/puppetlabs/puppet/modules. My /etc/puppetlabs/puppet/modules directory is empty, is this by design or is there something wrong with my VM?

your vm doesn't have problem this is normal , the directory is empty and you need to create your own modules or download them from forge.puppetlabs.com . In this link have a simple example how to make a module.
