On one server same naming convention, same subnet as rest of my servers. Looks like it can not pull down config/files from the server. Running latest version of puppet 3.1.1 every other node works.

Error: /Stage[main]/Logrotate/File[/etc/logrotate.conf]: Could not evaluate: getaddrinfo: Name or service not known Could not retrieve file metadata for puppet:///modules/logrotate/logrotate.conf: getaddrinfo: Name or service not known Error: /Stage[main]/Logrotate/File[/etc/cron.daily/logrotate]: Could not evaluate: getaddrinfo: Name or service not known Could not retrieve file metadata for puppet:///modules/logrotate/logrotate.cron ... (more)

Are you running RHEL6/Centos 6, by any chance? There was a glibc bug in this area:

If so, then perhaps you could try one of the fixes/workarounds (either: upgrading glibc with the errata package, removing "options rotate" from resolv.conf, or running nscd)

Puppetmaster is Centos 6 and 90% of the nodes are the same.

Definitely worth checking out the glibc and resolv.conf then, I reckon (on both the puppetmaster and the problematic client).

This problem was fixed when I added an extra slash to my local file URL (puppet:/// instead of puppet://)

Upgraded glibc to latest release and solved my issue.
