Managing time limited vhosts with Puppet

I am working on a Puppet managed demo server for our product using Puppet 3, as a standalone server (no Puppet Master) at present. I'm a newbie to Puppet, and mostly just trying to work out the correct way to achieve things.

Situation is that users sign up for a demo and we put their details into MySQL. A cron job runs once a minute and picks up any new signups - creating the new demo, and also closes any demos that are now 72 hours old.

If you are on puppet3, that will include hiera. I'd recommend that you take a look at hiera-mysql and refactor your database to make it work with that and the other stuff that uses it.

Then you can just do hiera lookups or use databinding (automagic hiera lookups) to get the data into puppet.
